Where is the studio located?
Our studio is located on Comstock Bridge Rd, Colchester Connecticut surrounded by the historic covered bridge and beautiful Salmon River. We also offer session on location or in the comfort of your own home.
How long is each session?
Each session lasts from 1-2 hours, 2-3 hours for newborns. This amount of time allows your child to take necessary breaks and/or feeds. I will take 20 photos during our session and maybe more.
What should you wear?
To look your best, in photos solid colors are optimal. Try to avoid wearing clothing wtih logos or pictures on them. Feel free to bring two or three outfits per sitting. If you are planning to be photographed with your child, coordinating your clothing is a good idea. If you are going to be getting your picture taken with your newborn, it is best to solid neutral top for some of the photos.
What should you have with you?
If your child has any favorite toys that you would like to bring as props, please bring them! Or maybe you have a blanket that your great grandma knit or an outfit you saved from when you were a child, the more things that are unique to your family the more special your photos can be. You can also bring snacks and drinks for breaks. Be mindful of what snacks and drinks so stains don’t occur during our session.
Where should we have our session?
I find it easier to always start in the backyard at home and then it depends on what type of photos you wish to achieve. If you prefer formal studio portraits, I can set up a travel studio in your home. If you would rather have casual, outdoor pictures we can have your session at a mutually agreed upon outdoor location.
What time of day?
If we were inside, it is preferable you book your session when you child is happiest. This is usually when they aren’t tired, they are full of good food and ready to play! I am happy to work around your child’s schedule. If we are going to be outdoors, it is perferrable to have your session in the early morning or late afternoon for optimal lighting conditions.
When should I schedule my session?
If you want to have sleeping newborn photographs of your child, the best age to get those poses are between birth to 10 days old. Schedule your session to be when your infant is most sleepy. You are always welcome to feed your child during a session. For older children, as stated below, the best time to photograph them is when they are in a happy playful mood. As a mom of three, I know moods can’t always be predicted and I will do my best to get your child in the photo taking groove!
When can I view the photographs?
Your photographs will be available for viewing on my website approximately 10 business days after your session. You will recieve a password to your gallery via email. I will leave them up for you and your family and friends to view for 10 days unless otherwise requested.
